It gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, gaiety and life to everything. It is the essence of order and leads to all that is good, just, and beautiful, or which it is the invisible, but nevertheless dazzling, passionate, and eternal form. --Plato on Music

June 27th, 2015: Wedding
This is all of our wedding playlists. My husband and I love music. It was definitely a combined effort to pick the right songs and we really enjoyed it. Music has been a part of our whole relationship. Our wedding favor was a mix CD with songs that meant a lot to us. Before the ceremony was a lot of instrumental popular songs; we had a lot of Vitamin String Quartet. I wanted our wedding to be upbeat and light hearted. I picked songs with a quicker beat and added The Lord of the Rings song for Lucas. Our wedding party walked down to Make you Mine by Us The Duo. I love the words and I love that it's upbeat. I walked down to Flightless Bird, American Mouth originally by Iron & Wine. It was the instrumental wedding version by Vitamin String Quartet. Ray LaMontagne stole the show for our recessional. We exited to You Are The Best Thing and our first dance was Hold You In My Arms. For our reception, we had a lip-sync competition. I sang Spice Girls and Lucas did Kelly Clarkson. The rest is a fun dance mix that Lucas and I created together.

July 17th, 2014: GerontionGerontion is a poem by TS Eliot, who was born in St. Louis Missouri in 1888. Thomas Stearns Eliot is the author of The Waste Land, which is now considered by many to be the most influential poetic work on the twentieth century. Many believe Gerontion is the preface to The Waste Land, but Eliot published it as an independent work.
These songs give me the same feeling as Gerontion; reliving youthful passions that contrast with the dismal present. The poem opens with an epigraph from Shakespeare's play Measure for Measure. Thou hast nor you nor age But as it were an after dinner sleep Dreaming of both. |

June 9th, 2014: There May Be TearsThis is my favorite band right now. Great vocals and lyrics! This song is about trusting God. It's like this song was written just for me. I needed to hear these words so badly. God didn't promise living this life would be easy, he actually warns us that we will suffer. A lot of times we want to know that this is the "right thing" to do, but we really are wanting it to be easy...we want to know that there will be no bumps in the road before we start traveling.
"Die to self. Live for Christ. And then do what you want, and go where you want, for God's glory." -Kevin DeYoung in Just Do Something "My children, don't worry take my hand. I'm taking you down this road you don't understand yet. There may be tears while you're waiting for these answers, you can't see the picture, I can see your future. There is no way to know what your future holds, just hold tightly to me." |

June 2nd, 2014: May the Words"May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart! Be acceptable in Your sight ! Oh, Lord, my rock! You are my rock!! Oh, Lord, my rock and my redeemer! Oh, the heavens, they declare what You have done! And the dark is chased away by the rising sun! But even in the darkest nights the stars shine on! Creation sings redemption’s song!" A great song when you need to focus completely on God, giving Him all the glory for the good in life. |
