Here is to you John & Rosie Sheets. You have instilled in my a love for truth and a kind and compassionate nature. I've seen you forgive those who have wronged you. You have endured the loss of your eldest son, and you relive those memories in telling stories about him. You have set a great example for me on what marriage looks like; making it through the hard times and rejoicing in the good times. You have poured out on me your biblical knowledge and love for the gospel. Thank you for your unconditional love you have shown me. And I'm on to your plan Nana; I'm pretty sure you've been telling both Emily and I, "You're my favorite." Thanks for keeping me humble.
Early Thursday morning, we got up early to take some of my grandparent's friends to Springfield to go to a Doctor's Appointment. They used this trip as a vehicle for community and friendship. After the appointment, we went to Golden Coral and oh my goodness all I can say is Holy Chocolate Fountains! They kept telling me, "Wow! You eat about as much as your papa!" After we were stuffed we went to Payless Shoes and to some garage sales. Then we went to Harter House, my grandparents even bought me some groceries. When we got back to their house my grandma let me look through her jewelry. I found a locket with my cute little baby face in it. It was a precious moment because I was the first grand-baby, and my grandma picked out my middle name.
I want to end this post with 2 Nana-ism's. She is a godly woman, but she also says the darndest things. "I wonder if I can hit that squirrel with my pistol." To which my grandpa replied, "Calm down Annie Oakley." During our drive in Springfield we passed an IHOP. My grandma says, "O looks that's where all the one legged women work. I need to work there, I can't get a job at Hooters."
Thanks for reading my nostalgia in the making.
