What? The Rad Black Kids have created their own line of merchandise. This includes longboards, beanies, tees, tanks, sweatshirts, hats, and much more. Why?"The Rad Black Kids believe that we can still be rad, while being culturally conscious, and environmentally responsible. Regardless of who you are, if you're reading this, you too could play a part in alleviating our combined carbon footprint.
That's why for every product sold bearing The Rad Black Kids mark, we will donate a tree to be planted in the United States!" What?We "will donate one bar of soap, freshwater, or vitamin supplements to a child in need for every bar purchased." Why?"More than 3,000 children's lives could be saved every day with something as simple as a bar or soap and clean water. In just two short years, we have donated our soap internationally to a number of countries, 4 Continents in total. We also provide soap locally to struggling families, homeless shelters, women shelters, and nursing homes here in America."
What?"The company wants to honor God and serve the Philippines, to champion education for the underprivileged school children by giving bags, awarding scholarships, building classrooms, providing books and hiring qualified unemployed school teachers, all through the generosity of our givers, partners and volunteers." Why?"One particular trip changed the direction of my life. While in Mindanao, I saw a little boy walking on a rice paddy dike on his way to school, carrying a plastic bag with his school stuff inside. He walked toward me and suddenly my heart started to race against frozen time. A flashback of my life started playing. The past looked me in the eye. I was gripped by the reality that the boy I saw in Mindanao was just one among thousands, perhaps millions. I believed my life would not be worth living if I did not do something for these kids. I realized I had to do something bigger than myself.
So I resigned from my job in L.A. and decided to go back to the Philippines and start a business that would champion education for the poor. Faith made me believe what my mind could not conceive. Fear has been a constant reminder that I am not capable of doing anything without God. Fear activated faith. When everything else was voting against me, faith voted for me. And I counted that as an advantage." What? "We collaborate with the craftsmen to create products that we know you will love. They are high-quality and beautiful. It would be a disservice to not tell the world about the craftsmen's amazing work. We exist to make a difference in the lives of craftsmen throughout the world. We call it Handmade Impact." Why? "Market Colors was started because I believe where we shop can make a difference. It was founded to make a lasting impact for families throughout Africa." "God called me to this type of ministry over several visits to Africa. I spent days with widows anxious over whether they could give their kids food that day because they hadn’t sold many of their handmade products at the market. I don’t say that to pull at your heartstrings, but because it’s the truth. Together, we can change that -- not for everyone in Africa, but for many." -Lizzie Randazzo, Founder and CEO What?Unlock Hope: Uganda sells merchandise that supports education for girls in Uganda. They sell male and female apparel. Their key necklaces [shown above] are very symbolic of their mission: "To unlock something means to make something previously in-accessible available for use. Hope is defined as a desire of good accompanied with a belief that it is obtainable. To a young refugee in Uganda hope is an education." Why?"We have partnered with Think Humanity, an organization that runs a hostel in Hoima, Uganda for young refugee girls from all across Africa, many of whom are orphaned. By providing them with quality healthcare, good food to eat and a safe place to live they are enabling them to get an education. When you buy one of our products you are helping to cover every single expense necessary for supporting these girls in their pursuit of an education. Health care, food, housing, utilities, transportation, support staff, school fees, clothing, uniforms, toiletries, school supplies, books and more are completely paid for - all thanks to you!" What?"We want to sell the best quality dental supplies while sustaining the environment and improve the oral health of people who can’t afford or have access to dental care. Why?"Humble Brush won’t cause a revolution in the world. But every grain of dirt will move a mountain slowly. Health care is a basic human right which should be accessible to all. Dental care is usually overlooked, but consider the effects of a healthy mouth. Proper nutrition leads to a strong, healthy body with the ability to work. Having a smile improves social contacts which in turn lead to better opportunities. Our health is one big system. If one part fails the other parts can’t function either."
What?"Out of Print celebrates the world’s great stories through fashion. Our products feature iconic and often out of print book covers. Some are classics, some are just curious enough to make great t-shirts, but all are striking works of art. We work closely with artists, authors and publishers to license the content that ends up in our collections. Each product is treated to feel soft and worn like a well-read book." Why?"In addition to spreading the joy of reading through our tees and accessories, we acknowledge that many parts of the world don’t have access to books at all. We are working to change that. For each product sold, one book is donated to a community in need through our partner Books For Africa."
What? "Light gives heat has a wide collection of products including merchandise for their own non-profit, products handmade in Uganda, and upcycled finds from India. Their products include baby bibs, jewelry, T-shirts, purses, notebooks, and much more. Although they are not a one-for-one organization, they are doing great things by connecting the United States to Africa through entrepreneurship and are definitely worth mentioning in this list." Why? "An American couple with average lives have their hearts stirred when they learn of the war plaguing Uganda, and decide to move with the intent of adopting and starting a non-profit. The people they encounter will alter the course of their lives forever. MOVING ON steps into the lives of three incredible Ugandans- Betty, Charles, and Joyce. Although their stories begin with heartbreak, and loss- all have stories of hope. This is NOT a story about war, injustice, poverty or despair. It is NOT a story of Westerners "saving" Africa. What Moving On beautifully uncovers is that a relationship with Africa is not one sided- the West will not rescue Africa. Their rescues are tied up in one another." What?DivvyUp was founded with the goal of spreading happiness one funky pair of socks at a time. Why?"Every time we sell a pair of our awesome socks, we will donate a brand new pair of plain white or black socks to the local homeless shelter. At the end of every two weeks, we will donate as many pairs that we have sold during that period to a shelter in need. Currently, we donate all socks to the North Florida homeless shelters. As we grow, we will continue to expand our reach until we are actively donating across the United States."

AuthorI am a follower of Christ Jesus. I enjoy the simple.
Occupier of the Midwest. Introvert, but not shy. This is where I go on about the bible, movies, books, clothes, crafts, and anything else. Learning what it means to have a servant's heart. Teacher, Seminary wife, reader. behind the name:Jesus is the lamb of God. He was a sacrificial lamb that was slain for us. Jesus himself tells us to pick up our cross and do what he did. I long to be a lamb, able to lay down my own selfish desires and wholeheartedly follow Christ. Dietrich Bonhoeffer said when Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die. I am learning to die to self daily.
I write because I love sharing ideas. I write because the internet needs more beautiful and things and more gospel truths. Here are some references from the scriptures: Revelation 12:11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death Revelation 5:11-12 Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” 1 John 2:6 Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Archives
